(The Netherlands)- There was much cause for celebration after this
year's offshore North Sea Race for the crew on the J/109 CAPTAIN JACK,
they sailed a strong race to get 2nd place overall in IRC-2 class.It all started on Tuesday-night the 31st of May, the Vuurschepen Race acted as the delivery-race for the RORC North Sea Race. It was a tough, long race in which a 3rd place was best possible for the team (for the first time offshore with this boat!). The North Sea Race was an old fashioned beating for the day, evening and night. In these circumstances the J-109 felt comfortable, as another J-109 YETI took 1st place and CAPTAIN JACK getting 2nd.
Then the inshore-races were sailed in difficult weather conditions, with rough waves and tide situations, delivering a real good battle for the strong IRC-2 Class. CAPTAIN JACK sailed as consistent as could be, fighting till the very last leg for the overall win. In the end they finished 2nd. Next on their regatta calendar will be the Dutch ORC Championship and the IRC East Championship in Ramsgate (UK).
